When Texas Renaissance Festival King George suddenly announces his retirement to focus on his love life, a battle erupts amongst the festival’s body politic. The festival’s general manager and heir apparent must fight for his place in the kingdom against a kettle-corn kingpin and a former elephant trainer, both eager to remake the festival in their own image. Their feud ascends to Shakespearian heights in this three-part genre defying, docu-fantasia from director Lance Oppenheim, Elara Pictures, and HBO.
The vast and powerful score mirrors the internal drama going on between the characters in the show and plays a critical role to the series’ unique, creative identity. Composed, written and performed by LA based Ari Balouzian (Gabriels, Appraiser) – it delivers a wild blend of a full scale orchestral strings, programmed and acoustic Moodog esque percussion and dark, brooding bass synthesizers. This is the third collaboration between Balouzian and Oppenheim after Some Kind Of Heaven (2020) and Spermworld (2024).
