Pianist Junior Mance, a veteran of albums and dates with Dinah Washington and Cannonball Adderley, was offered his own recording date by Norman Granz during a session with Dizzy Gillespie. The result is this 1959 debut album, a bluesy and swinging date with Gillespie’s drummer Lex Humphries and bassist Ray Brown. Highlights include the original “Jubilation” and Cole Porter’s “Love For Sale”. This Verve By Request title is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Third Man in Detroit.
