A limited edition release of 1974’s title song for The Man With The Golden Gun will be issued to celebrate 2024 Record Store Day. The track, written by John Barry and Don Black, performed by Lulu, is released for the first time as a 12” picture disc featuring the original James Bond film artwork.
2024 marks 50 years since 007’s The Man With The Golden Gun opened in cinemas, with John Barry’s soundtrack and title track released the same year.
In 2022 Lulu joined Dame Shirley Bassey, Don Black, David Arnold and other musical stars to perform her 1974 song at ‘The Sound Of 007 In Concert’ at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The exclusive RSD 12” picture disc features the poster artwork from the film, designed and illustrated by Robert McGinnis. The design features a collage of illustrated images of key characters, scenes and locations, including Roger Moore’s James Bond, Scaramanga , Nick Nack , Mary Goodnight and Andrea
The 2024 Record Store Day takes place on 20th April 2024. Record Store Day first started in 2007 when a group of record shop owners came together in the US to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture of record stores. The first official event took place on April 19th, 2008, and today it is celebrated by thousands of record shops all over the globe, including 260+ in the UK.
